Alexander Turner

Alex is a freelance photographer and journalist. He is a regular contributor of photo essays to The Guardian and his authors profile can be found here. In many cases he writes the stories that accompany his images. Try this one for the New York Times on the Plastic-Hunting Pirates of the Cornish Coast.

Alex has produced photo essays on the Mountain Bothies Association, Surfers Against Sewage, Bristol’s Grand Iftar and many more. He has photographed and interviewed best selling author Robert Macfarlane, Cuban ballet sensation Carlos Acosta and the first Black Mayor of a UK city, Marvin Rees.

Alex also photographs sports and adventure, working for many years with Brooks England photographing bike races and shooting commercial and advertorial work. Alex now regularly contributes to Cyclist Magazine, covering races all across Europe. Commercial clients include Home of Millican, Brooks England and Penguin Random House.

Alex graduated in History from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2015 where he founded the Goldsmiths Photography Society. He is based in Bristol and available for commercial and editorial work across the UK and internationally. See the clippings below for some of his most recent work.
